Active Partners in National Recovery

When calamity strikes, institutions are tested. Since 1999, the Foundation for Social Care (FSC) has responded to disasters and emergencies not as an observer, but as an active partner in national recovery.

From natural disasters to public health emergencies, FSC’s approach consistently combines:

  • Immediate relief
  • Structured rehabilitation
  • Long-term resilience building
Disaster Relief and Community Aid

Standing with the nation when it matters most

Gujarat Earthquake Relief & Rehabilitation

(2001–2008)

The 2001 Gujarat Earthquake was one of the gravest humanitarian crises in modern India. FSC’s response evolved into a multi-year rehabilitation mission.

FSC’s work restored shelter, rebuilt infrastructure, and revived community livelihoods — transforming relief into recovery.

Key Interventions:

  • 60 permanent housing units constructed
  • 7 community care centres established
  • ₹26,99,484 invested in reconstruction works
  • ₹7,75,896 allocated for care centre construction
  • ₹9,92,694 invested in self-employment rehabilitation groups
  • 850 earthquake-affected children supported through educational rehabilitation

Tsunami Relief Operations

(2004)

Following the December 2004 tsunami, FSC mobilized logistical and financial support for affected regions:

  • Large-scale relief coordination
  • ₹2,00,000+ direct expenditure
  • Emergency assistance to displaced families

This intervention reflected FSC’s national solidarity and rapid-response capability.

COVID-19 Pandemic Response

(2020–2021)

When the nation entered lockdown, FSC activated its healthcare and welfare systems immediately.

Community Support:

  • • 154 food packets distributed during lockdown
  • • Free medicine distribution to police & local residents
  • • Relief support to distressed families

Institutional Safety Measures:

  • • COVID-19 testing conducted (5 Dec 2020) for staff
  • • HIN Vaccination Drive (Jan–Feb 2021)
  • • 46 faculty and students vaccinated

FSC ensured that both the community and its institutional ecosystem remained supported and protected.

Floods, Cold Waves & Natural Calamities

(1999 Onwards)

FSC has consistently responded to seasonal and sudden disasters:

  • Flood and cold-wave relief initiatives
  • Direct assistance to affected families
  • Distribution of essential supplies
  • Ongoing natural calamity support since 1999

Disaster response has remained an embedded function within FSC’s welfare mission.

Annual Winter Relief & Protection Drives

Addressing Recurring Crises

Not all emergencies are sudden. Each winter, vulnerable communities face severe hardship. FSC conducts annual winter relief initiatives, providing:

  • Blankets and warm clothing
  • Support to homeless and elderly individuals
  • Aid to widows, daily-wage earners, and orphaned children

These recurring drives reflect FSC’s belief that humanitarian response must also address silent, recurring crises.

Institutional Preparedness & Continuing Commitment

Across decades of emergency work, FSC has developed:

  • Structured relief mobilization mechanisms
  • Community-level referral and distribution networks
  • Healthcare-integrated emergency response capacity
  • Transparent resource deployment systems

Lessons from earthquake rehabilitation, disaster logistics, and pandemic response now inform FSC’s ongoing preparedness strategy.

A Continuing Pledge

Disaster relief at FSC is not episodic. It is a standing responsibility. From rebuilding homes to protecting public health, from winter warmth drives to national emergency support...

FSC remains committed to serving the nation when it matters most.

Success!
